The Yoga is Now studio is a haven of serenity, where every breath connects body and mind, bringing balance, well-being and lightness to the present. Yoga teacher Christelle's studio was the perfect choice for a photo shooting of Deborah Rocha's handmade silk scarves made from elements of nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Era uma manh\u00e3 de quarta-feira, 7 de agosto de 2024, quando nos encontramos, primeiro para uma sess\u00e3o relaxante de yoga no est\u00fadio\u00a0Yoga is Now. Com as lentes da fot\u00f3grafa Juliana Bezerra de Mello, capturamos bel\u00edssimas imagens minimalistas dos len\u00e7os \u2013 as grandes estrelas do dia. A ilumina\u00e7\u00e3o suave e a luz natural, que entrava pelas amplas janelas de vidro do espa\u00e7o, criaram composi\u00e7\u00f5es em uma atmosfera aconchegante, onde todos participaram cheios de ideias e entusiasmo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, we explored the foulard-dyeing laboratory, located in Deborah's home, where we photographed the preparation of the colors and their natural dye sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em sua palestra \u201cOde ao Azul\u201d<\/em>In her talk entitled \u201cOde to Blue\u201d, Deborah shares her experiences and knowledge of the history and magic of this silky color at the crossroads of the Silk Road and the Spice Road. A sustainable and transformable journey towards Brazilian blue. The Do Fio da Seda project is dedicated to tracing the paths of silk threads, its history, and uses in various knowledge achievements. It seeks to associate silk weaves and its art with complex human relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A palavra\u00a0\u00edndigo\u00a0tem origem no latim\u00a0indicum<\/em>, que significa\u00a0“<\/strong>da \u00cdndia“<\/strong>, fazendo refer\u00eancia ao local de onde os europeus importavam o pigmento. Esse termo, por sua vez, vem do grego\u00a0indikon<\/em>, com o mesmo significado. O \u00edndigo \u00e9 um dos corantes naturais mais antigos da humanidade, extra\u00eddo tradicionalmente da planta\u00a0Indigofera tinctoria<\/em>The word indigo comes from the Latin indicum, meaning \u201cfrom India\u201d, in reference to the place where Europeans imported the pigment. This term in turn comes from the Greek indikon, which has the same meaning. Indigo is one of mankind's oldest natural dyes. It is traditionally extracted from the Indigofera tinctoria plant, cultivated in India, China, Africa and South America. It was widely used by ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians, Persians, Greeks and Romans to dye fabrics. Over time, the word indigo came to designate both the color and the pigment, becoming an emblematic hue associated with depth, spirituality and traditional craftsmanship.\u00a0\u00edndigo<\/em>\u00a0passou a designar tanto a cor quanto o pigmento, tornando-se um tom ic\u00f4nico, associado \u00e0 profundidade, espiritualidade e tradi\u00e7\u00e3o artesanal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong>Tingidos \u00e0 m\u00e3o por Deborah, esse processo de colora\u00e7\u00e3o com elementos naturais chamou imediatamente minha aten\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d, diz Juliana Bezerra. \u201cComo fot\u00f3grafa, tamb\u00e9m sigo um processo artesanal na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de imagens com uma t\u00e9cnica hist\u00f3rica da fotografia: o\u00a0cian\u00f3tipo, que tamb\u00e9m permite \u2018colorir\u2019 a imagem por meio de banhos em diferentes produtos naturais\u201d, continua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI found many similarities between Deborah\u2019s artisanal practice of dyeing and cyanotyping: there's a real involvement in his activity, because everything is done by hand, with great care, respecting time and materials. There's also an alchemical dimension... Daring to experiment, seeking in experimentation and even in imperfections a way to keep the history of the material alive, while creating new narratives\u201d.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
